Kishiwada is famous all over Japan for its Danjiri Matsuri (festival of floats). The festival is more than 300 years old and is one of the most representative celebrations of Japan.
Kishiwada began as a fiefdom that grew around Kishiwada-jo Castle. Inside the reconstructed keep is a museum of artifacts and information from the local area.






Point 
Kishiwada is the town where is while going to Osaka from Kansai International airport, and has a castle on left. "Danjiri" festival is the most famous festival. Thai is Kishi shrine and the people's festival That appreciate a good harvest. Over 30 Danjiris (pageants) with beautifully decorating run through the castle town. Danjiri hall exhibits some goods and you can experience "Danjiri festival". Although this is a day trip from Osaka, you can visit to Wakayama, or can also stay at Sakai city and around Kansai International Airport.

IKishiwada-jo Castle
The castle was originally built by Takaie Wada of the Masashige Kusunoki Clan. The reconstructed 3-story keep houses a museum of local history that puts on exhibit armors, daily utensils, old writings and other artifacts of the Okabe Family who served as the lords of the castle. How to get there: About 7 min on foot from Nankai Main Line Takojizo Station.

Kishiki-jinja Shrine
In the 13th century, Yasaka-jinja Shrine of Kyoto was moved to this site and renamed Gozutenno in its capacity as the village shrine of Kishiwada. It was eventually renamed Kishiki-jinja Shrine in the Meiji Period.
Nowadays, the temple is the site of intensive action on the day before Respect for the Aged Day in September, as danjiri floats climb the Konakara-saka to enter the shrine's grounds as part of the Kishiwada Festival.

Danjiri Center
Started in the mid Edo Period, the Danjiri Matsuri draws big crowds every year because of its vibrancy and commoner roots. This museum introduces the festival with exhibits of the oldest floats, Matoi, happi coats, carvings and other articles, and there is also a 3D simulator for experiencing what it feels like to ride one of these floats.
