Main route Kobe Nankin-machi town

Pronounced “Kyoryuchi”, it literally means the “former foreign settlement”. Today, this section of Kobe still retains many vestiges of the foreign merchants who settled here in the latter half of the 19th century after the port of Kobe was opened to world trade. You find retro-styled buildings and an atmosphere of another world.
Flower Road, which extends towards the sea from the Sannomiya-Motomachi area, is the main street beautifully decorated with flowers in every season. West of Tor Road, which crosses Kyoryuchi north to south, is Nankinmachi, Kobe’s own miniature version of Chinatown adrift in an Oriental mood.

Point1
Kobe has the atmosphere of western countries. People have enterprise because Kobe has been the “window” of foreign culture after the opening of our country to the world. It takes 20 minutes from JR Osaka station to Sannomiya by special rapid service, 30minutes to take the Hanshin limited express, 35 minutes to take the Shinkansen from Kyoto to JR Shin-Kobe.

Point2
We recommend for you to take the city loop Bus. The bus goes around the famous spots of Kobe such as Shin-Kobe station, Kitano (bus stop), Sannomiya (bus stop), Motomachi (bus stop), Meriken Park, and Harbor Land. A day ticket costs \650. You can get on and off at any time by using this ticket.

Point3
You should see Harbor land when you want to see the bay sight. The sight of Harbor land is no less fashionable than Odaiba in Tokyo. You should go to Nunobiki Herb Park when you go around Ijin-kan. It has a great view of Kobe city from the top of the mountain. You’ll take to ropeway from JR Shin-Kobe station.

Flower Clock
Located on the north side of Kobe City Hall, this flower clock was the first of its kind in Japan. It is 6 m across, 2.25 m off the ground and inclined to a 15? angle. It sits on a mound under which is the machine room. The current hands are made of fiberglass with the minute hand being 260 cm long and the second hand 310 cm.

Kyoryuchi
Much still remains of this former enclave of foreign merchants in this port city. There are many old buildings like the Kobe City Museum, formerly a branch of Tokyo Bank, with its round Greek columns, and the massive Mitsui Shipping Building made of stone.
How to get there: About 10 min on foot from JR (Kobe Line) Sannomiya Station and Hankyu (Kobe Line) and Hanshin Sannomiya Station

Kobe City Museum
The building with its round Greek columns was formerly a branch of the Tokyo Bank. In the permanent exhibit are a diorama of city in the days of Kyoryuchi and artifacts that testify to the history of Kobe and the cultural exchanges between Japan and the outside world, which are presented by differing themes.
How to get there: About 10 min on foot from JR (Kobe Line) Sannomiya Station and Hankyu (Kobe Line) and Hanshin Sannomiya Station
Admission fee: 200yen (Separate price for special exhibits)
Open: 10:00am - 5:00pm

Nankinmachi
Nankinmachi is Kobe's Chinatown. It is full of Chinese restaurants and stores selling Chinese foods and goods.
