Main route Ise

It is convenient to use the limited expresses of Kintetsu from Nagoya, Kyoto, and Osaka or JR from Nagoya to go to Ise. The nearest railway station to the Naiku shrine is Isuzugawa Station of Kintetsu. When you use a bus or taxi, please get off at Ujiyamada Station of Kintetsu. You can get information at the “Rekishikaido i center” in front of the station. You are supposed to visit the Geku and then the Naiku formally in Isejingu shrine. If you visit in this order, you are supposed to get off at Iseshi Station. There are about 100 meters between Ujiyamada Station and Iseshi Station. If you visit Futami, and the Toba area, as well as Ise City, you can use the “CAN bus.” It costs you 1000 yen for a day, or 1600 yen for 2 days. You can get on and off anywhere you want.

Point1 
Isejingu is a general term of Naiku,Geku,125
sessha(shrine),massha(shrine),and hokansha(shrine). Various Gods are enshrined in and around the city,on the sites of Naiku and eku. Naiku is a must,however,you can make your trip more enjoyable by visiting little hrines by the way.

Point2 
There are two museums at the entrance of Naiku,
Jinguchoukokanand Jingubijutukan. They exhibit treasures of Jingu.
You can learn the history of Isejingu. I recommend you to spend 1~2 hours there,if you have interest in Jingu and history.

Point3 
Famous shops of the Mie Prefecture are in Oharaimachi and Okageyokocho, the reproduction of the city in front of Naiku. We recommend this area for shopping and eating meals. If you would like to experience worship to Ise, go to “Okageza” in the middle of Okageyokocho. The entrance is narrow. There are various departments there. The style of it is like a pavilion. They sell Akafuku from the early in the mornig.it will take you at least 2 hours to visit Naiku, Oharaimachi, and Okageyokocho.

Ise Grand Shrines:Naiku(Inner Shrine)
The God is Amaterasuomikami. It will take you one hour to visit Ujibashi(bridge), Mitarashiba, Kazahinominomiya(shrine), Kaguraden, Imibiyaden, Shogu(shrine), and so on. They restore all of the buildings and remake decorations and treasures every 20 years.

Ise Grand Shrines:Geku(Outer Shrine)
The God is Toyoukenookami. He controls food such as grain,clothing,and shelter.
There are Seiden,Kanmiso,Tohoden,Seihoden,and so on. about 8 minutes from Iseshi station(Kintetsu/JR)

Oharaimachi(Okageyokocho)
Oharamachi is the cathedral town of Naiku. Many people visited there as “Okagemairi”in the Edo period. At the corner of the shops of souvenirs and restaurants,there is Okageyokocho. The historical city was restored.(open 365 days a year)

Towns of Kawasaki
You can see shops along the left side of the Setagawa River that brings people to Isejingu. The style of the shops is Tsumairi style. They introduce history and culture of the town in “Kawasaki machinami kan.”The building was for keeping sake in the Edo period. 5 minutes from the bus stop,“Kawasakicho”of Mie Buses on foot.

Jingu Art Museum
It was built as a commemoration of the 61st ceremony of removal in 1993. They exhibit the fine arts and traditional industrial arts which were donated by people who agree with the removal. Admission fee: Adult 500 yen Closed :Monday(If these days are Japanese National Holiday, next day will be closed) 3 minutes from the bus stop,“Chokokanmae”on foot.
