In 710, a vast capital city spanning 5.9 km east-west and 4.8km north-south was modeled after the capital of China in Changan.
Its grandeur can be sensed from replicas of the Suzaku-mon Gate and Toin-teien Garden that have been rebuilt on the site.







Point1 
The section from Aska to Kyoto via Nara is the features of Rekishikaido that you can do “time travel” from early days to modern age explore the history.

Point2 
You can take railroads, the JR line and the Kintetsu line. Kintetsu limited express is useful for sightseeing. The train runs from Kyoto station to Nara or Kashihara station every 15 minutes. JR line connections have been improving in recent years. The JR Sakurai line the railway along with mountain path, has a flavor as a local line.

Point3 
Nara stands very near to Kyoto and Osaka. You can go to Nara from Kyoto or Osaka within 30 minutes. Although we can take a day trip, it’s impossible for you to enjoy it to the fulluest in one day. You should stay for 2 days when you see Nara city, 3days when you also visit the Aska area.

Heijo-kyo Palace Site(World Heritage)
Modeled after the ancient Chinese capital of Changan, the Heijo-kyo Palace was built in 710 to a scale of 5.9 km east-west and 4.8 km north-south. The site has been converted into a historical park with replicas of the Suzaku-mon Gate and Toin-teien Garden having been built and trees planted where columns once stood of the private quarters of the emperor and Chodo-in Temple.

Heijo Palace Site Museum
Located about 700 m west of the Heijo-kyo Palace site is this museum with displays of artifacts, models of buildings, tools used in their construction and more.

Open: 9:00 - 16:30 (Doors closed at 16:00)
Closed: Mondays (Tuesday if Monday is a holiday), New Year’s holiday

Archeological Features Exhibition Hall
The hall preserves archeological finds discovered in excavations of the Heijo-kyo Palace site just as they were found, and puts on display models of the Daigokuden and private quarters of the emperor.
